The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board is the apex body responsible for conducting recruitments to various Group B, C, and D posts within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Advertisement Notification No. 04 of 2026 consolidates vacancies from six departments — Agriculture Production, ARI and Trainings, Industries and Commerce, Higher Education, Home, and Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs — into a single unified notification covering 130 posts. The posts span a wide range of trades, technical roles, and support functions, from mechanical and electrical trades to horticulture, printing, library science, textile technology, and forensic laboratory support. Vacancies exist across both the Jammu and Kashmir Divisions, as well as certain Union Territory-level cadres. The recruitment is conducted under direct recruitment provisions as per the extant rules of the Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Appointment and service conditions of selected candidates will be governed by the applicable rules and regulations of the UT Government. The Board invites applications only from domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir holding a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority. The selection process relies solely on a written objective-type examination with negative marking, followed by document verification for those shortlisted.

Candidates must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and must possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority on the prescribed format, valid on or before the cut-off date of 21 July 2026. Educational qualifications vary by post, ranging from Middle Pass with ITI for Plumber to a Bachelor's Degree in Library Science for Library Assistant roles, and a Bachelor's Degree in Forensic Science, Medical, or Science subjects for Laboratory Assistant posts in the Forensic Science Laboratory. For posts requiring diploma qualifications, candidates must hold a three-year diploma in the relevant engineering or technology discipline from a recognized institute. For posts in the printing trade, candidates may qualify either through a one-year ITI or diploma in the relevant printing or computer trade, or through seven years of experience in the printing field from a government or recognized private institution. The prescribed qualification must have been acquired strictly on or before the cut-off date. Candidates in the final year of their qualifying course are not eligible. For reserved category benefits, candidates must hold valid category certificates in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority, valid as on the cut-off date. Candidates claiming equivalence of qualification must produce a valid Equivalence Certificate from the concerned authorities as and when required by the Board.

Reservation is applied as per the category-wise break-up conveyed by the indenting departments and in accordance with the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act and Rules as amended from time to time. Categories covered include SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA (Residents of Backward Areas), OBC, EWS, and ALC/IB (Residents of areas adjoining the Line of Actual Control and International Border). Horizontal reservation is applicable for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) to the extent communicated by the indenting departments. ESM horizontal reservation applies only to posts carrying pay up to Level-6E (35900–113500). An ESM candidate who has previously availed horizontal reservation cannot claim it again for subsequent employment as per S.O. 361 of 2021 dated 20.10.2021. Reservation certificates must be in the prescribed format and valid as on the cut-off date of 21 July 2026; otherwise the candidature will be considered under Open Merit.
