RRC-SECR - 1079 Trade Apprentice Online Form 2026

South East Central Railway (SECR) is one of the zonal railways under Indian Railways, headquartered at Bilaspur. The Nagpur Division of SECR and Workshop Motibagh, Nagpur periodically engage Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1992 to provide structured on-the-job training in designated trades across engineering, electrical, mechanical, and allied disciplines. The apprenticeship programme is administered through the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. Apprentices are trained as per the standards and syllabus prescribed by the Central Apprenticeship Council and are eligible for stipend at government-prescribed rates during the one-year training period. The programme covers a wide range of trades including Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic Diesel, COPA, Welder, Carpenter, Wireman, Painter, Plumber, Turner, Machinist, Electronics Mechanic, Cable Jointer, Mason, Stenographer (English and Hindi), and several specialist trades. Candidates must choose either the Nagpur Division or Workshop Motibagh at the time of application; no change of unit is permitted after selection. Completion of apprenticeship does not confer any right to employment in Railways.

Candidates must be between 15 and 24 years of age as on 19.05.2026. Age relaxation applies as follows: SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation, OBC candidates get 3 years, and PwBD (Divyang) and Ex-Servicemen candidates get 10 years relaxation. Ex-Servicemen are additionally entitled to relaxation to the extent of service rendered in the Defence Forces plus 3 years, provided they have put in a minimum of 6 months of continuous service. The minimum educational qualification is Matriculation (Class 10) passed or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Candidates must also possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the relevant notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training, or a Provisional Certificate issued by NCVT or State Council for Vocational Training. Candidates must fill their 10th and ITI marks on the NAPS portal; failure to do so results in automatic rejection. Engineering Graduates and Diploma Holders are not eligible to apply under this notification, as they are governed by a separate apprenticeship scheme. Candidates who have previously completed an apprenticeship in any organisation are also ineligible to apply.

Reservation is provided as per government norms. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes receive age relaxation of 5 years; OBC candidates receive 3 years. PwBD and Ex-Servicemen receive 10 years age relaxation. Ex-Servicemen quota of 10% is provided horizontally; selected Ex-Servicemen are placed against their respective community categories (UR/SC/ST/OBC). Priority for Ex-Servicemen quota follows: children of deceased/disabled Ex-Servicemen, children of Ex-Servicemen, children of serving officers, Ex-Servicemen themselves, and children of serving jawans. EWS vacancies are reserved separately; as per PCPO/SECR circular, any merit-qualified candidate from any category may be engaged against vacant EWS reserved posts.
