South East Central Railway (SECR) is one of the zonal railways under Indian Railways, headquartered at Bilaspur. The Nagpur Division of SECR and Workshop Motibagh, Nagpur periodically engage Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1992 to provide structured on-the-job training in designated trades across engineering, electrical, mechanical, and allied disciplines. The apprenticeship programme is administered through the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. Apprentices are trained as per the standards and syllabus prescribed by the Central Apprenticeship Council and are eligible for stipend at government-prescribed rates during the one-year training period. The programme covers a wide range of trades including Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic Diesel, COPA, Welder, Carpenter, Wireman, Painter, Plumber, Turner, Machinist, Electronics Mechanic, Cable Jointer, Mason, Stenographer (English and Hindi), and several specialist trades. Candidates must choose either the Nagpur Division or Workshop Motibagh at the time of application; no change of unit is permitted after selection. Completion of apprenticeship does not confer any right to employment in Railways. |
