CSIR-Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CSIR-CIMFR), located in Dhanbad, Jharkhand — the coal capital of India — is a premier constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. The institute focuses on providing research and development inputs across the entire coal-energy chain, encompassing exploration, mining, and utilization. It also strives to develop mineral-based industries to support the country's energy security and growth with high standards of safety, economy, and environmental cleanliness. In alignment with national missions recently declared by the Government of India, CSIR-CIMFR has re-aligned its vision, missions, and policies, redefining short and long-term targets to promote rapid sustainable national techno-economic growth with equal emphasis on self-sustenance. The institute is headquartered at Dhanbad (Digwadih and Barwa Road campuses) in Jharkhand and operates research centres at Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Ranchi (Jharkhand), Roorkee (Uttarakhand), and Raniganj (West Bengal). CSIR-CIMFR is now seeking dynamic, creative, and dedicated Technicians across various trades to support its diverse technical and research activities across these locations.

Applicants must be Indian citizens. The minimum educational qualification for all Technician-1 posts is SSC/10th Standard or equivalent examination with Science subjects with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized institution. In addition, candidates must possess one of the following: an ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in the relevant trade from a recognized institution; OR two years of full-time experience as an apprentice trainee in the relevant trade from a recognized institution; OR three years of work experience in the relevant trade in a Ministry, Department, Organization, Public Sector Undertaking, or Autonomous Body under the Government of India, State, or Union Territory. The minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 28 years as on the closing date 19-06-2026. Relaxations in the upper age limit are available for SC/ST (5 years), OBC-NCL (3 years), PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, Departmental candidates, and divorced/widowed women as per Government of India and CSIR rules. Qualifications must be from recognized universities or institutions. Part-time, daily wage, or visiting/guest faculty experience will not be counted for the prescribed experience. Candidates already employed in a regular/permanent government post must apply through proper channel with a No Objection Certificate.

Out of 30 total posts, horizontal reservation covers 2 posts for PwBD (one for HH — Deaf and Hard of Hearing, one for VH — Visually Handicapped with Low Vision) and 3 posts for Ex-Servicemen (ESM). Vertical reservation across posts: UR 10, EWS 05, OBC 02, SC 02, ST 11. PwBD candidates get 10 years upper age relaxation (UR), 13 years (OBC), 15 years (SC/ST); maximum age not to exceed 56 years on cut-off date. PwBD and ESM candidates are adjusted against their respective vertical category vacancies (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR). SC/ST/PwBD/Women/Ex-Servicemen are exempted from application fee. OBC candidates must not belong to the Creamy Layer as on 19-06-2026.
