CSIR-Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CSIR-CIMFR), located in Dhanbad, Jharkhand — the coal capital of India — is a premier constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. 🎓 Eligibility Details

Applicants must be Indian citizens. The minimum educational qualification for all Technician-1 posts is SSC/10th Standard or equivalent examination with Science subjects with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized institution. In addition, candidates must possess one of the following: an ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in the relevant trade from a recognized institution; OR two years of full-time experience as an apprentice trainee in the relevant trade from a recognized institution; OR three years of work experience in the relevant trade in a Ministry, Department, Organization, Public Sector Undertaking, or Autonomous Body under the Government of India, State, or Union Territory. The minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 28 years as on the closing date 19-06-2026. Relaxations in the upper age limit are available for SC/ST (5 years), OBC-NCL (3 years), PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, Departmental candidates, and divorced/widowed women as per Government of India and CSIR rules. Qualifications must be from recognized universities or institutions. Part-time, daily wage, or visiting/guest faculty experience will not be counted for the prescribed experience. Candidates already employed in a regular/permanent government post must apply through proper channel with a No Objection Certificate.

🪪 Reservation Details

Out of 30 total posts, horizontal reservation covers 2 posts for PwBD (one for HH — Deaf and Hard of Hearing, one for VH — Visually Handicapped with Low Vision) and 3 posts for Ex-Servicemen (ESM). Vertical reservation across posts: UR 10, EWS 05, OBC 02, SC 02, ST 11. PwBD candidates get 10 years upper age relaxation (UR), 13 years (OBC), 15 years (SC/ST); maximum age not to exceed 56 years on cut-off date. PwBD and ESM candidates are adjusted against their respective vertical category vacancies (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR). SC/ST/PwBD/Women/Ex-Servicemen are exempted from application fee. OBC candidates must not belong to the Creamy Layer as on 19-06-2026.

    Visit CSIR-CIMFR recruitment portal

    Go to cimfr.res.in/applyonline or www.cimfr.res.in and register with a valid email ID and password. No other mode of application will be accepted.

    Complete primary registration

    After registration, log in and fill up primary registration details carefully. Once submitted, primary details cannot be edited, so verify before final submission.

  3. 3
    Select post code and fill application

    Choose the relevant post code(s) and fill up educational and employment details. Candidates may apply for multiple post codes by submitting separate applications and fees for each.

  4. 4
    Upload required documents

    Upload scanned photograph, signature, educational certificates, experience certificates, caste/category certificates, and other supporting documents as specified in the checklist.

  5. 5
    Pay application fee

    Pay the non-refundable fee of Rs. 500 via SBI Collect portal. SC/ST, PwBD, Women, and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted. Upload the e-receipt proof in the application portal.

  6. 6
    Final submission and printout

    Review the complete application before final submission. After successful submission it will be provisionally accepted. Download and retain a printout and payment details for future reference; these will not be available after the closing date.

⚠️ Important Instructions

  • For multiple post codes, separate applications and separate fees are required for each post code.

  • Incomplete applications without photograph, signature, fee, or required documents will be summarily rejected.
  • Candidates in regular government employment must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.
  • CGPA/SGPA grades must be converted to percentage as per the institution's formula; upload the conversion formula copy.
  • Documents/certificates in languages other than Hindi or English must be accompanied by a certified Hindi or English translation.
  • Date of birth as recorded in Matriculation/SSC certificate is final; no subsequent change request will be entertained.
  • No travel allowance or daily allowance will be paid for attending Trade Test or Written Examination.
